NW Educator dies in a horrible accident

The North West department of Education and Sport Development is devastated by the death of one educator who died in a horrible accident that occurred at Haartebeesfontein near Klerksdorp on Thursday, 25 October 2018.

The two educators from Christiana School for the Blind were travelling from Christiana to Rustenburg to attend training on Learners with severe to Profound Intellectual Disability (LSPID) programme. The training is a dedicated programme for special schools on learners who are in the Care Centres and communities.

It is alleged that, the car they were travelling in got involved in an accident with another car and one educator who was sitting in the passenger seat died at the scene. The other educator who was a driver is in a stable condition and recuperating at Tshepong Hospital, near Klerksdorp.

MEC Sello Lehari conveyed his condolences to the family of the deceased educator and wished the injured educator a speedy recovery.

“On behalf of the department I wish to convey our deepest condolences to the family, colleagues and learners of Christiana School for the Blind on the untimely passing-on of their educator. I further wish a speedy recovery to the educator who has been admitted at the hospital”, said MEC Lehari.

The memorial service and the funeral arrangements will be communicated once the next of kin of the deceased have been informed.
