The North West Department of Education held an Older Employees Empowerment Workshop in Sparkling Waters Hotel, Rustenburg on 2 to 3 November 2023.

The workshop was held under the theme “Fulfilling the promises of the universal declaration of human rights for older persons: Across generations”.

The Workshop aimed to heighten advocacy pertaining to the rights of older persons such as access to information and a conducive working environment. It is also to create awareness on aging gracefully.
The older employees were given insight by different health professionals, Old Mutual, Government Employee Medical Scheme, Government Employee Pension Fund and South African Revenue Services.

The Workshop was attended by 100 older employees from across the four districts of the department. Overall, the older employees left the workshop ready and prepared for retirement.
