KGETLENG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY SCHOOLS BENEFIT THROUGH THUNTSHA LEROLE PROJECT

As the North West province continues to accelerate service delivery backlogs, the North West Department of Education handed over the construction of toilets for Rebone Secondary School on Friday, 13 October 2023 in Borolelo Township near Swartruggens.

Three other schools that benefited from the project are Mazista Primary School which received 100 desks and 90 chairs and a donation of four-wheeled dust bins and five trees to plant from the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT).

Two other beneficiaries from DEDECT namely, Borolelo and Kgetleng Primary Schools also, received four-wheeled dustbins and five trees each.

The four schools also received dignity packs from the Department of Social Development.

The visit to Kgetleng proceeded to monitor the construction project of Kgetleng Primary School.
The intention of building the new school is to address the challenges of overcrowding affecting neighbouring schools.

MEC for Education in the North West province, Viola Motsumi says Thuntsha Lerole helps to monitor schools and render service delivery to remote areas.

“The Thuntsha Lerole project helps us to visit and monitor the condition of schools across the province. I take this time to assure community members that we are going to visit each an every area in the province no matter the distance.

“We still plead with all communities to support learners during these critical times as they prepare to sit for year-end examinations. Matriculants are left with two weeks to their final exams and we wish they can continue to get necessary support”, expressed Motsumi.

The MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation Keneetswe Mosenogi handed over the sporting kits to Borolelo, Kgetleng and Mazista Primary Schools.

Motsumi will launch the exam prayer and signing of the pledge for matriculants on Thursday, 19 October 2023 at Botoka Secondary School in Ikageng Township, Potchefstroom.
