2019 ARTS AND CULTURE SCHOOL FESTIVALS

The School Enrichment Sub-Directorate has outdone themselves by hosting a prestigious two days Provincial Schools’ Arts and Culture 2019 Competition for Primary and Secondary Schools, which targets learners in Grade 6 to 11. The three districts participating in the provincial championships were Ngaka Modiri Molema, Dr Kenneth Kaunda and the hosting district of Bojanala. A total number of 342 learners took part in the event that was held at Rustenburg Recreation Centre on the 12thand 13thSeptember 2019.

The purpose of the event was to celebrate heritage month through Arts and to enrich creative arts subject and Life Skills. The competition focused in both mainstream and special schools. The learners were exploring their talents through Poetry, freestyle dance, drama, gumboots dance and Instrumental Arts. Judges for the event were Mr Mdu Nhlapo, Ms Pemla Ndovu, Ms Lerato Lindi and Mr Sechogo Khesi.

The results for Primary Provincial Schools’ Arts and Culture 2019 Competition were as follows:

  1. Tshwara-O-Dire Primary school from Bojanala obtain position one in Poetry,
  2. Ragogang Primary in Dr Kenneth Kaunda obtained position one in Freestyle dance,
  3. Gontse primary from Dr Kenneth Kaunda obtain position one in Drama,
  4. Tshirologo Primary School in Dr KK Disrict obtain position one in Gumboot Dance whilst Leokeng Primary from Bojanala scooped position one in Instrumental Art.
  5. Boinnelo Primary in Dr Kenneth Kaunda obtained position one in Traditional dance,
  6. Lelolwane Primary in Ngaka Modiri Molema obtained position one in Comedy and Rutanang Primary in Bojanala obtained position one in Visual Art.

Special School results:

  1. Temogo Primary in Bojanala obtained position one in Poetry,
  2. Resomaretse Primary in Ngaka Modiri Molema district obtained position one in Freestyle dance,
  3. RekgonneBapo Primary in Bojanala obtained position one in Gumboot dance,
  4. Rorisang Primary in Bojanala obtained position one in Traditional dance and
  5. Iteko Primary in Bojanala obtained position one in Visual Art.

Final results for Secondary Provincial Schools’ Arts and Culture 2019 Competition were as follows:

  1. Thuto Tsebosecondary school from Dr KKD obtain position one in Poetry,
  2. Setilo secondary in NMMD obtained position one in Freestyle dance,
  3. Resologetse secondary Dr KKD obtain position one in Drama,
  4. Poelano secondary school in Dr KK District obtain position one in Gumboot Dance,
  5. Ntlatseng secondary in Dr KKD scooped position one in Instrumental Art,
  6. Gatelapele secondary in Dr Kenneth Kaunda obtained position one in Traditional dance,
  7. Marikana econdary in Bojanala obtained position one in Comedy,
  8. OnkabetseThuto secondary in NMMD obtained position one in Visual Art.

Special School results:

  1. Ikalafeng secondary in Dr KKD obtained position one in Freestyle dance,
  2. Lillian Lehetlain NMMD obtained position one in Gumboot dance,
  3. Temogo secondary in Bojanala obtained position one in Traditional dance,
  4. Reoleboge secondary in Bojanala obtained position one in Visual Art.

The talent of Poetry and entertainment was also rendered by 17yrs old learner and 2018 poetry winner, Paballo Mokoena from B A Seobi secondary school in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District.
