In a mission to improve year-end results, North West Department of Education MEC Viola Motsumi engaged departmental officials on Wednesday, 05 April 2023.

This forms part of Motsumi’s series of engagements with stakeholders as she [Motsumi] proceeded to meet with the Curriculum Chief Directorate and the Institutional Governance and Support Services officials.

“I have called these directorates in order to understand their challenges and strengths. I have observed that our officials have capacity even to achieve great strides.

“Upon my probing of the officials l have picked up that the issue of vacant posts and a large number of acting positions contribute to poor performance. Therefore, l have decided to address this challenge by filling up the positions. We are also going to focus more on resourcing the technical schools. We will ensure that we recruit teachers who are qualified in technical subjects”, said MEC Motsumi.

The department is targeting to be amongst the three top provinces in the country come year end matric results.
