SPELLING BEE AND READING CLUBS COMPETITION
The Chief Directorate for Curriculum Management Services hosted Inspiring Provincial Spelling Bee Competition.Spelling Bee competition is a competition in which learners are asked to spell a broad selection of words usually with a varying degree of difficulty. Spelling bee championship targets learners in Grade 4 to 6 is aimed at improving learners’ performance in languages, especially in English. The Provincial championships were held at Grenswag High School, Rustenburg on the 11th of September 2019.
Before the 12 learners from four district of North West Province could start with their race to the crown, Ms Bopape from School Library gave a message of support to the participants. The Event was graced by Mrs Rootman of General and Further Education and Training, Ms N. Modisakeng, Ms K. Sechogela, Ms M. Lebotse, Ms M. Mansfield, Ms B. Keebine, Ms B. Masilela, Ms G. Ntlailane, Mr M.D Mokgotsane, Mr Taunyane, Mr Seobi, Mr G. Mokgajane and Mr R. Phiri who was the Programme Director.
Spelling Bee competition is sponsored by Old Mutual/Camp I am Publishers and 20 000 work books were donated to Schools across the Province. The message of support was rendered by Mr Kgantsi of School Library, Mr Mabula of Old of Mutual /Camp I am Publishers and Mr Mashigo of Department of Basic Education.
The winners who will represent the Province at National level are as follows:
- 1st position Onalenna Molekwa from Motsitle Primary-Bojanala,
- 2nd position is Kamogelo Chisale of Catherine Primary-Bojanala and
- Monica Princess Rapoo from Sunrise view Primary-Bojanala.
These young exceptional winners will represent the Province in the National competition on the 21 September 2019.
