The North West Department of Education is pleased to announce its role as a key beneficiary in the North West-Chinese partnership, a collaborative initiative between Premier Lazarus Mokgosi and Ms. Zhao Meiling, President of the Women Empowerment and Development Society in Asia-Africa at a meeting held in Kgomo-Kgomo village in the Madibeng Local Municipality on Tuesday, 13 August 2024.
This partnership, rooted in the 2021 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Action Plan, will focus on upgrading and renovating schools within the province, aiming to improve the quality of education infrastructure for learners.
As part of this significant collaboration, two schools in the province have been identified for immediate renovation- Moratwe Secondary and Sengana Primary where already consultants were appointed late last year with a plan to combine the two school into a combined school due to low enrolment.
The renovations will ensure that these schools are better equipped to provide a conducive learning and teaching environment, fostering educational excellence and community upliftment.
MEC for Education in the North West Province, Ms. Viola Motsumi, expressed her gratitude for the partnership.
“The North West-Chinese partnership marks a pivotal moment in our efforts to enhance educational facilities in our province. The planned combined Sengana Primary and Moratwe Secondary School will not only uplift the physical environment but will also inspire our learners and teachers to strive for greater success. We are deeply grateful to Premier Mokgosi and Ms. Zhao Meiling for their commitment to the future of our learners”, Viola expresses.
The North West Department of Education looks forward to the successful implementation of this initiative and is confident that the partnership will serve as a model for future collaborations aimed at improving the educational landscape in the province.
