With the aim of fulfilling the promises made to Learners and Educators of Coligny Special school, The North West Department of Education headed by the honourable MEC Viola Ntsetsao Motsumi had a sod turning to acknowledge the beginning of building a new hostel for learners in school.
This day was set aside for the ground breaking ceremony in order to celebrate the first day of building the school hostels.
In her address the MEC for Education stated that the department has been making promises and now it is time to put those words into action by delivering what was eventually promised. She further uttered that close to 300 people from the community of Coligny, with the right capacity will benefit from this project and continued to urge members of the community not to disrupt the progress of the project.
According to what the contractors promised, the building will be done in 30 months. Close to 268 million will be used for the building for the hostels in Coligny Special School. The hostels will accommodate both girls and boys of junior and senior phase with a sick bay, kitchen and dining hall for all the learners.
In his closing remark, Kgosi Molete stated that he is pleased to see the leadership that actually do the work and stand firm in what they believe in. He continues to say that special schools are often overlooked, and the focus always goes into main stream. He alluded to the idea of having to build this hostel for learners of the Coligny special school and closed by thanking all officials that are involved in the building of this project.
The event was graced by the presence of DDG Masilo, Mr Seboko, Dr Phorabatho, Mr Sokhupa, Ms Radebe, members of the School Governing Body, representative from Public Works.
