REITPAN DEATH TOLL INCREASES TO EIGHT

Following the truck accident on Saturday that claimed seven lives of school going children, the death toll is said to have increased to eight when one child succumbed to fatal injuries on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 at Bophelong Hospital.

The bereaved families warmly welcomed the initiative by North West Department of Education to hold a memorial service in honour of all the deceased children as they were identified learners from Letlhakane Primary School, Ratsela Middle school and Mmajane secondary school. The service will be held on Thursday, 24 October 2019 at Letlhakane Primary School in Rietpan village near Zeerust at 10:00.

The accident took place on Saturday 19 October 2019 when a truck hired by the community to ferry children aged 12-15 to play a local match from Rietpan neighbouring villages hit a tree led to the fatal accident.
