NW EDUCATION VACCINATION DRIVE EXTENDED

The North West Department of Education in consultation with the provincial Department of Health have extended the vaccination drive among education personnel.

The extension was brought by low education personnel turn out wherein by close of extension on Wednesday, 14 July only 71 percent of the sector personnel were vaccinated.

This means that out of the 43 200 personnel that were expected, only 30 677 received the vaccine.

MEC for education in the North West Mmaphefo Matsemela makes an earnest appeal to the education staff to familarize themselves with the Covid-19 vaccinate and it’s benefits.

“Once again I make an appeal to the North West education community to familiarise themselves with the Covid-19 vaccine so as to make better informed decisions regarding their well-being. We have extended our vaccine roll out to accomodate the remaining staff As a department we are pleased that the closing date for the vaccination has been extended and the manual capturing will be done on site in order to allow everyone from the sector to be vaccinated. I am calling all educators and the support staff to take this opportunity of the extension and vaccinate. This initiative will help to strengthen the fight against the monstrous Covid-19,” said MEC Matsemela.

About 12 677 education personnel are expected to vaccinate.
