The Department of Education in the North West Province held school safety training for SGB’s,RCL’s and school principals in Protea, Klersdorp from 6 -9 February 2024.

School safety committees from two districts namely; Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati and Dr Kenneth Kaunda meet to discuss on how to make school environment safe for teaching and learning.

The department in partnership with Moving Dot consultants ensured that attendees are taken through marathon of engagements on school safety.

Ms Boitumelo Lekwape, the School Safety Coordinator in the Province gave a presentation on what is expected in conclusion of the workshop.

Mr Zamani Ndlovu from Moving Dot who has more than 15 years experience in school safety delivered a problem statement that will address:

• School safety situation in schools,
• Legal basis for establishing safety committees and
• School safety non negotiables.

Attendees were divided into different commissions to assess risks at their respective schools and there after they presented findings.
