North West Education MEC Motsumi and Premier Maape Applaud Smooth Start to School Year at Dingake Primary

The North West Department of Education is off to a positive start as schools across the province welcomed learners back for the 2024 academic year. MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, and Premier Bushy Maape kicked off the year with a visit to Dingake Primary School in Verdwaal, near Itsoseng, to witness the excitement and commitment to learning firsthand.

“We are thrilled to see such a vibrant atmosphere at Dingakwe today. The high attendance and enthusiasm among both learners and educators are a testament to the dedication of our school communities and the importance placed on education in the North West”, said Motsumi.
Premier Maape echoed MEC Motsumi’s sentiments, highlighting the significant strides in ensuring access to quality education for all learners.

“Dingake Primary is one of 300 pilot schools participating in our groundbreaking breakfast program, reaching 1321 schools across the province for lunchtime meals. This initiative ensures our learners come to school nourished and ready to learn”, Premier Maape expressed.
Dingake Primary, with its 571 learners, exemplifies the diverse and thriving school communities across the North West. The school’s participation in the breakfast program is a crucial step towards addressing food insecurity and creating a conducive learning environment for all students.

MEC Motsumi and Premier Maape used the visit to commend teachers and support staff for their tireless efforts in preparing for the new year. They encouraged learners to embrace the opportunities ahead and maximise their education.

The North West Department of Education remains committed to providing quality education for all learners in the province.
With a promising start to the new year, the department is confident in building on past successes and creating a brighter future for education in the North West.
