North West Department of Education extends well wishes to Zeerust Combined School learners injured in an accident

The Department of Education in the North West Province is saddened to learn of a head-on collision between a public taxi and car accident that occurred near the Tweefontein junction in Zeerust involving two of our learners from Zeerust Combined School on Friday, 01 March 2024.

The taxi is reported to be from Zeerust to Dinokana village. The Department extends its sincere sympathies to the families and the school community of Zeerust Combined School.

Learners who were school children in the public transport sustained injuries – one to the right hand and the other to the leg. Both learners are currently receiving medical attention at Zeerust Hospital and are in a stable condition.

MEC for Education in the North West, Viola Motsumi, conveys her heartfelt wishes for a speedy and full recovery to the injured learners.
“The well-being of our learners is our top priority, and we are committed to providing them with the necessary support during this difficult time,” said MEC Motsumi.

The Department is in contact with the school principal, district senior officials and the learners’ families to offer its full support.

Psychological safety will be administered to learners, their families and the school on Monday, 04 March 2024.
