MORAL REGENERATION A SOLUTION TO SOCIETAL CHALLENGES AFFECTING EDUCATION

The North West Department of Education and the provincial Office of the Premier had on Tuesday, 06 August 2019 held an outreach program aimed at addressing societal challenges and to bring about solutions to issues faced by schools today.

Held at Mmabatho High School this collaborated partnership was a success as it engaged various stakeholders such as parents, other social cluster departments and learners as the main centre of attention.

Speaking with their bold voices learners say bullying, violence, teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, lack of parental involvement as well as lack of recreational activities are among the contemporary social challenges that bring about moral decay which lead to a negative effect in their schooling and education today.

With these challenges at hand learners plead for active parental involvement both at home and school level so as to find means to address their issues.
The department will undertake this roadshow in all four districts to give an ear to the learners as well as charting solutions.

The next outreach will be headed to Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district at Kiesmet Hall in Vryburg on Thursday, 08 August 2019. Other districts will have the program as follows:

Date: Monday, 12 August 2019
Venue: Ballroom Hall, Klerksdorp
Time: 09:00am

And

Date: Friday, 16 August 2019
Venue: Ben Marais Hall, Rustenburg
Time: 09:00am

This outreach program is part of the implementable solutions from the safety summit held in March this year.
