Avbob Foundation hands over a Container Library to Manoane Primary School in Gopane Village

It was a joyous day for the learners, principal, educators and the community of Gopane Village as they celebrated with the departmental officials while Avbob foundation officially handed over the container library and 3000 different types of books, including dictionaries.

Learners gave inspiring poems and messages of appreciation to Avbob.

The Principal Mr Paul Motaung acknowledged the gesture on behalf of the school and thanked Avbob for bringing a positive change in Manoane Primary School. He made a commitment to ensure that the library will be cared for and be used effectively by the educators and the learners.

The District Director Mr S.D Ntlabathi gave a word of appreciation on behalf of the Department and the MEC Ms Ntsetsao Viola Motsumi. He thanked Avbob for rebranding and giving people a reason to associate with them. Mr Ntlabathi made a commitment on behalf of the department that it will be ensured that the library receives a top up of reading materials on what is already provided by Avbob. He also acknowledged and appreciated that three other schools in Mafikeng (Mokgwetsi, Senkgwe, Sekolopo) also got to benefit container libraries from Avbob. “Literacy is a human right”, he said.

In her key note address, the Avbob General Manager Ms Keboneilwe Mosweusweu requested educators and parents to instill “the love of reading” to learners. She indicated that education is the biggest pillar on their corporate social investment hance they made a commitment to donate 500 libraries across the country, targeting the deepest rural areas. The beneficiaries were challenged as they were encouraged to enter the spelling bee competition and also compete amongst themselves.

To support the event, in attendance it was the Circuit Coordinator for cluster 2 Dr Motshidiso Molokoe, the Circuit Manager, GET Coordinator, GET subject specialists from Ramotshere Moiloa LEO and Acting DD Corporate Support Mr Kabelo Thale.

The SGB Chairperson Ms Mabel Sebogo and Mr Obakeng Seane also acknowledged the gift on behalf of the community. They both appreciated the efforts and selflessness of the Principal of Manoane Primary School.

The cutting of the ribbon was done by the Avbob General Manager, Principal, SGB Chairperson, District Director and the representative from the Royal Family.
