The newly appointed North West Department of Education, MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela started her work on a high note by conducting an introductory meeting with the Senior Managers of the department on Tuesday, 04 June 2019, Mmabatho.

The primary purpose of the meeting was to share her vision with the departmental management. Matsemela implored every departmental employee to put their hands on deck to ensure they delivered quality education to the communities.

MEC Matsemela pleaded with the senior managers to ensure they increase access to education for all learners across the province.

“I am requesting that we expand access to education for all learners across the province. I would like to strongly discourage those communities who burn schools whenever they want to get the attention of the government. We should always promote a peaceful engagement without destroying any government property”, said MEC Matsemela.

MEC Matsemela further emphasized that safety in schools is a burning issue across the country. She highlighted that the department will partner with all stakeholders within the society to ensure that the situation is brought back to normal in schools. MEC Matsemela indicated that, it takes a village to raise a child.

MEC Matsemela is lined up to conduct a series of interaction meetings with various stakeholders namely; departmental staff, principals, School Governing Bodies, Unions and many more stakeholders with interest to education.
