MEC Viola Motsumi of the North West Department of Education is continuing her monitoring of schools in the province as part of the last push programme in support of matric candidates by visiting the North West School for the Deaf on Wednesday, 22 November 2023.
Throughout the year MEC Motsumi has been committed to ensuring inclusivity to all schools and matric candidates in the North West by providing the resources they need to succeed in their final exams.
She has been visiting schools throughout the province to meet with learners, teachers, and principals to discuss the challenges and opportunities they face.
At the North West School for the Deaf, MEC Motsumi called for assistance from the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports, and Recreation to offer inclined sign language practitioners to give teachers and learners adequate guidance in preparation for examinations.
During Wednesday’s visit to the school, Motsumi met with learners and staff to monitor examination progress and offer support.
“I am committed to ensuring that all learners in the North West have the opportunity to reach their full potential. My visit at this particular school is to also observe the help we offer yield results to our candidates that are deaf or hard of hearing to succeed in their exams”, said MEC Motsumi.
Motsumi is encouraging all matric candidates in the North West to take advantage of the resources available to them through the last push programme.
“With hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. You are already at the finishing line, do not give up” she added.
In the last week, Motsumi visited Christiana School for the Blind during her examination monitoring.
