The North West Department of Education is ready for the reopening of schools, for the 2023 academic year.
The provincial department confirmed that the delivery of stationery and textbooks is currently at 99% with the hope of increasing to 100% on the reopening day. The department further highlighted that classroom space for learning and teaching will be ready for the learners.
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi expressed confidence in the readiness of the province.
“On behalf of the entire department l would like to emphasize the readiness of our province for the reopening of schools. It is all systems go for the provincial department on the first day.
“I am appealing with our parents to register learners on time, to avoid long queues on the reopening of schools. We want teachers to teach immediately on the first
day of the reopening. I also wish to condemn any act of disruption of schools that could take place tomorrow”, said MEC Motsumi.
MEC Motsumi is expected to monitor the reopening of the following schools:
First Day: Wednesday 11 January 2023
*Bojanala District*
– Swartrrugens Intermediate school in Swartrrugens near Rustenburg
– Dirang Primary School in Klipgat, near Mabopane
Second Day: Friday 13 January 2023
*Dr Kenneth Kaunda District*
– Pelokgale Primary School in Kanana near Orkney
– Tshedimosetso Secondary School in Kanana
The Members of Provincial Legislature, Councillors and departmental officials will be monitoring the reopening of schools across the province
