MEC MATSEMELA ENCOURAGES UNDERPERFORMING SCHOOLS
In an effort to obtain better results at the end of the 2021 academic year, MEC Matsemela kickstarted a roadshow to encourage underperforming schools at Mankala Technical school on Thursday, 25 March 2021.
The primary purpose of her visit during the roadshow was to share the vision of the department about the future of learners. She emphasized that the department demands a committed workforce in bettering the lives of learners.
Elizabeth Retlamfa the School Governing Body Chairperson at Mmamodibo Machakela which obtained 88% in 2020 Matric results appreciated the visit by the MEC.
“I want to thank the MEC for visiting our area, we will be encouraged to even work more harder. Our school achieved these good results due to the unity prevailing between parents, teachers and learners”, said Ms Retlamfa.
The MEC for Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela highlighted that they need to rise again to reach the top three spot.
“I am here to say let us rise together. As a department we have diagnosed ourselves and we know the subjects which have let us down, namely Agriculture, Geography, Economics, Mathematics Literacy and the Life Sciences. All these subjects are highly registered in our province and we are going to ensure that our performance on them is improved.
“In the process of rising up we should consider facts. It is important for the learner to know the terminology of a subject. Section A in a question paper is about terminology. The learner will easily answer the fill-in and the matching questions and automatically collecting the marks. We should be very serious about teaching learners. If we are not serious some are going to drop out from school”, said MEC Matsemela.
On Thursday, 25 March 2021, MEC Matsemela met Hendrick Makapan, Motswatemeng, Nchaupe, Machakela Mmamodibo and Matlaisane Secondary schools at Mankala Technical High School in the Moretele Local Municipality.
