DON’T LEAVE QUESTIONS UNANSWERED IN YOUR EXAMINATIONS – MEC MATSEMELA
In a series of roadshows across the province to encourage and motivate Grade 12 learners, MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela visited Iketletsong and Rethusegile Secondary schools in Lethabong Village near Rustenburg on Thursday, 29 October 2020
Iketletsong Secondary school obtained 75,2% in their preliminary examinations with 230 Grade 12 learners while Rethusegile secondary school obtained 94.55% with 110 learners.
MEC Matsemela emphasised that the secret to passing, is that no learner should obtain less than 40% in their home languages and no learner should obtain less than 30% in English. Learners should obtain more than 50% in other subjects in order to pass exceptionally well.
“Hundred percent is real with these learners, please continue to work very hard. I wish you all the best in your examinations. I want you to focus. Now it is your time to reflect what your teachers have taught you throughout the year.
“Learners should remember to understand the terminology of their subjects, that will give them a cherry on top when collecting the marks. Learners should not leave any questions without answering them. You should answer all the questions in order to pass. I am confident that these learners will make the entire province proud”, said MEC Matsemela.
MEC Matsemela reminded the Grade 12 learners that they should work or establish study groups. She said learners understand better when they hear from their peers.
“Learners should put their strength where they master well the topics. When you read please check the mistakes you have committed during the Preliminary examinations and improve on that. Surely in doing so, learners stand a chance to pass at the end of the year”, said MEC Matsemela.
Andries Matlhamela who is a Headboy at Rethusegile Secondary school indicated that his wish is to work together as learners and assist those who are struggling.
MEC Matsemela closed by requesting learners to attend school everyday in order to be assisted by teachers.
