NW Education condemns any form of racism in Schools

The North West Education and Sport Development MEC, Sello Lehari condemns in its strongest terms any form of racism, wherein pictures depicting black and white learners sitting separately in a classroom at Laerskool Schweizer Reneke in the Mamusa Local Municipality, Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

As soon as the matter reached the attention of the department, officials from the district were assigned to visit the school as to ascertain the facts.

MEC Sello Lehari in his response to the pictures circulating in the social media expressed his shock and disappointment.

�On behalf of the department, I wish to condemn in its strongest terms any form of racism in our schools which contradict the constitution of our country. According to the South African constitution on Chapter Two, Bill of Rights under education says, do not discriminate on the basis of race�, said MEC Lehari.

Tomorrow morning on Thursday, 10 January 2019 a team of the departmental Senior Management led by MEC Sello Lehari, will visit the school on a fact finding mission and to provide guidance as to what should happen.

Any action which will be taken shall be informed by the report of the investigation conducted by the department.
