NW Department of Education congratulates it’s AU Teacher Prize nominee

The North West Department of Education sends good wishes to Sunrise View Secondary principal, Agnes Rasesemola who is nominated for the AU Teacher Prize, a teacher appreciation award ceremony which will be held virtually on 27, October 2021.

Mrs Rasesemola, a winner in the 2017 National Teaching Awards in the Excellence in Secondary School leadership category is the only female teacher to represent the Republic of South Africa on the AU Teacher Prize.

Mmaphefo Matsemela, MEC for education in the North West received the news with gladness in honour of women’s month.

“We are excited for Mrs Rasesemola for standing in for us as a teacher, a leader, a community builder through her dedication in serving with excellence, a North West citizen and most especially as a woman. This nomination couldn’t have come at a better time to celebrate women this month. We wish her all the very best,” said Matsemela.

The AU Teacher Prize has been established as a means for
demonstrating respect for teachers and the teaching profession, by encouraging and celebrating the committed teachers in Africa.

The anticipated ceremony will have the winner walk away with $10, 000 (+R142 700.00).
