NORTH WEST READY TO START 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR

In preparation to start the 2022 academic year, all School Management Teams (SMTs) and all educators across the North West province are ready to welcome learners for the 2022 academic year. SMT, all educators, General Assistants and screeners will reopen on Monday, 10 January 2022 while learners will reopen on Wednesday, 12 January 2022.

The department has currently placed 18 954 Grade R learners and 23 954 Grade 8s while we have 898 and 1 719 unplaced Grade R and 8 respectively.

MEC for Education in the North West province, Mmaphefo Matsemela is ready to welcome 2022 cohort and thanks parents for looking after children throughout the festive season.

“I would like to wish all parents, teachers and learners a happy new year. It feels good to welcome all of you to kick-start the 2022 academic year. I trust we are all coming back refreshed and ready to roll. To principals and teachers I have so much faith in you as we entrust learners to your care.

“Our Learner Teacher Support Material (LTSM) is underway. We have 96 percent delivery on textbook top ups and 91 percent delivery on stationery. By the 12 of January we should be ready to start teaching and learning”. I wish all teacher’s and learning a productive academic year, said Matsemela.

School SMT will open early to ensure all unplaced learners are accorded space and all Covid-19 protocols will be followed thoroughly

MEC Matsemela is expected to meet the parents of learners at Tirelong Secondary School near Rustenburg on Monday, 10 January 2022, whilst on 11 Tuesday 2022 she will visit Kgosi – Shope Secondary School in Setlagole Village.

– On Wednesday, 12 January 2022, MEC Matsemela is expected to visit Setshwarapelo Primary School in Mokgareng Village near Taung.

– On Thursday, 13 January 2022 MEC will visit Tong Technical School in Ganyesa Village.

– On Friday, 14 January 2022, MEC will monitor Lykso Combined in Lykso and finish her roadshow in Vryburg by visiting Pule Leeuw and Huhudi Primary School.
