GRADE 7 LEARNERS RETURN TO SCHOOL IN THE NW

Grade 7 learners across the North West province public schools returned with no disruptions post the two week break pronounced by President Cyril Ramaphosa as of 27 July 2020.

Teachers are back in numbers as some had recovered from the virus and in cases where some of the teachers are still recovering at home and others with registered commodities, the department has appointed substitute teachers to fill the gaps so as to continue with the rest of the syllabus.

MEC for Education in the North West, Mmaphefo Matsemela thanked the community for a disruption free return of Grade 7s and wishes for a smooth continuance of teaching and learning.

“We are pleased that our Grade 7 learners continued with teaching and learning with no disruptions in the province. We are left with few months to wrap the academic calendar and we wish that communities would really support learners by giving them a chance to finish the rest of the calendar year smoothly.

“We also encourage teachers and learners to maintain safety protocols by the continual washing of hands, keeping physical distance and sanitizing throughout the school day,” said Matsemela.

The remaining grades will be phased in on 24 August 2020.
